It’s time for: Summer Art Farm Camp

Little Artshram’s Third Annual
Summer Art-Farm Camp
at the Community Gardens in Traverse City!

Area children and youth have the opportunity to experience the magic of gardening, nature, and art this summer right in the heart of Traverse City. This is the third year that our Summer programs will take place at the Community Gardens near the historic barns of the old state hospital! And, this year we partner with the Artcenter Traverse City as a satellite program.

The Summer Art-Farm programs follow the Permaculture practice of carefully studying natural patterns, cycles, and diversities. The focus areas in our Art-Farm Camp programs are: food, water, shelter and community. The curriculum is a blend of art-making, organic gardening, natural building projects, nature awareness, and hikes on the Grand Traverse Commons grounds.

Children will grow cucumbers, popcorn, pumpkins, tomatoes, beans, cut flowers, and other crops in five garden plots. Other projects include: nature sketching and watercolor painting with guest artists from the Artcenter Traverse City, music-making and creating a “Sound-Garden”, puppet and mask-making, storytelling, singing and performing weekly puppet-teach-ins, AND, end with a garden-picnic feast with our families!

Each weekly camp accommodates 25 children and young people with a staff of two-three adult artist facilitators and two assistants.
