We’re offering classes at the Artcenter…..

And, now a few wonderful words from our friend, Amy Packard, at the artcenter…..

“Virtually everything that you come in contact with on a daily basis has been touched by an artist or a designer in some way. Whether you wear it, drive it, make your coffee with it or hang it behind the sofa, the creative process is evident.

Since 1951 artcenter traverse city has been a driving force behind the growing creative community in northwest Michigan. Through it’s nationally known summer workshop series, art education programs and community involvement, artcenter traverse city continues to expose artists young and old to a variety of media, concepts and techniques, enhancing critical thinking and creative problem solving abilities.

Through our education program, classes are offered throughout the year. The arts are valuable in and of themselves, but there is ample research to support other benefits of the arts: They enhance academic performance and self esteem. By requiring children and adults to use all of their senses in the creation and appreciation of art, we are giving them the chance to think divergently and express themselves in new and exciting ways.

As with most things in life, art is a building process. Artistic creativity, which leads to personal expression, depends on strong fundamentals. Mastering these fundamentals will allow the students to approach more complex issues and techniques as well as to explore new media.

We are delighted to announce our 2007-2008 Children’s Classes and we invite you to join us this year! “
